What You Need to Know About Tool Boxes & Storage Bags

When you’re out working, the last thing you want to do is worry about making sure what you brought along stays secure. We’ve put together what you need to know about ATV and UTV tool boxes and storage bags so you can focus on what’s really important – getting the work done.

Tool Boxes

An ATV or UTV tool box makes it easy to bring your tools and equipment along for work. It’s not practical to take your garage to the worksite, so filling your tool box with the right tools will help if issues arise.

Many tool boxes are sold in kits, so they already have the most important tools. If you plan to assemble your box yourself, make sure you have the follow basic items, in addition to your vocational-specific tools:

  • Tire Pressure Gauge
  • Tire Plug Repair Kit
  • T-handle Set
  • Allen Wrench Set
  • Pliers
  • Screwdriver
  • Tow Strap
  • Bolt Kit
  • ATV Axle Wrench
  • Ratchet Extension Bar

ATV and UTV tool boxes are generally easy to install and remove at the front or back of your vehicle, depending on your preference and the make of your unit. Many tool boxes will fit directly on the back of the unit and can be secured with straps. If you have a front or back rack, the tool box can also be easily secured with straps to the rack. If you want to access the tool box quickly, without having to undo the straps each time you open the lid, look for a box with anchors on the side or one that can be bolted to the mounts. That way, you can secure the box while still having access to the inside.

Storage Bags

Aside from the tools that you’ll need, ATV and UTV storage bags allow you to carry things for work. If you’re in farming, ranching, forestry, construction, groundskeeping, search and rescue, or any other profession where you utilize an off-road vehicle, you’ll want to consider having a storage bag to help you secure the work equipment and tools that you’ll need on the job.

Unlike the tool box, the storage bags allow you to bring along items such as gloves and other accessories, spare clothes, food, and more. There are many different types of storage bags, from seat bags that add extra cushion and support, to rack bags that attach to your vehicle’s rack. Most bags have multiple storage compartments that offer weather-proof storage so you can keep important things safe and dry, like a cell phone, keys, or your GPS locator. Most storage bags also have insulated sections, so you can pack food for your lunch break or keep drinks cold on the worksite.

Similar to the tool box, storage bags are easy to install and remove. There are options to secure them by straps, or by directly bolting them to the mounts on the front or back. Most storage bags have compartments that are easily accessible no matter where or how you install it to your ATV or UTV, so you’ll be able to quickly grab and replace things which may make it a more convenient option over the tool box.

Conclusion: Whether you’re just hitting the trail for an hour or working on site all-day, you’ll want to be prepared with an ATV tool box or storage bag. If you’re looking for your next ATV or UTV to help complete the job or make your work easier, check out ATVTrader.com.
